Product Range

All K1 series radars are available with sensors for different detection distances, the sensor size increases with detection range and are optimised for VAS (Vehicle Activated Signs) also known as Radar Speed Signs or Safety Signs.


Low Range



Ideal for cost sensitive and low power applications, the low range sensor can detect an average sized car at up to 100m.


Mid Range



For more demanding applications, the mid range sensor can detect an average sized car at up to 200m.


Long Range



For ultra long range applications, the long range sensor can detect an average sized car at up to 400m.

In addition to sensor size, all K1 series detectors are available with a range of features. These are our "base" configurations, we are usually able to provide OEM specific configurations or features as per your requirements. Please contact us for more information.

  1. Base Radar

    Key Features

    1. Low Power, optimised for battery powered applications.
    2. DSP Technology, uses modern DSP techniques to analyse the radar signal.
    3. Direction Sensitive, will only "activate" on the preset direction of traffic flow.
    4. USB Port, uses USB for configuration and firmware upgrades.
    5. RS232, make use of modem or bluetooth connectivity.1
    6. Photodiode Input, when connected to the L1 led driver, the brightness of connected displays can be varied according to ambient light conditions.2
    7. Remote Access, when connected to the M1XX modem, the device can be remotely configured and firmware upgraded without visiting the site.3

  2. Advanced Radar

  3. Data Collection Radar

    Key Features

    4. USB Port, uses USB for configuration and firmware upgrades.
    5. RS232, make use of modem or bluetooth connectivity.1
    6. Photodiode Input, when connected to the L1 led driver, the brightness of connected displays can be varied according to ambient light conditions.2
    7. Remote Access, when connected to the M1XX modem, the device can be remotely configured and firmware upgraded without visiting the site.3

    10. Data Collection, log date and time stamped information to an on board Micro SD card. Information can be downloaded and analysed using our analysis software. For modules connected to a M1XX modem, data can be collected remotely.

Kestrel Family Products

With the Kestrel family of products, it's possible for OEM's to concentrate their efforts on their end product rather than spending time developing solutions to interface to the front end equipment.

L1 LED Driver


The L1 LED driver is the integrated solution for driving LED signs (dual full 7 segments + single half segment + up to six additional high current LED banks). Optimised for low power, the L1 (in conjunction with the K1 radar module) automatically adjusts the LED brightness to the ambient light level to reduce power in all but the strongest daylight.

True plug and play operation with the K1 series of radar modules.

R1 IO Expander


The R1 module expands the input and output capabilities of the K1 series. The 4 inputs can be used as discrete inputs or used as a hex input which allows a 16 position rotary switch to be used. In addition the 4 relay outputs can be used to provide signalling to external equipment. Multiple R1 devices can be daisy chained to extend IO capabilities even further.

M1 Modem Module


The M1 modem module provides the ultimate operational flexibility for end users. Site visits are no longer required to reconfigure or update devices, these can be done from the office without requiring physical access to the device. For devices that have data collection capabilities, data can also be downloaded and analysed remotely.

C1 Bluetooth Module


The C1 bluetooth module allows non-contact on-site operation, ideal for integration into products which have limited access, the C1 can reduce the burden of health and safety by allowing work to be carried out at ground level and without a physical connection.

Software

For the configuration of devices, we supply a free configuration tool which allows the many radar options to be modified quickly and easily. The software detects the connection of a device from USB and will download and display the current configuration parameters automatically.

Complete control over internal settings allows user to tailor the operation of the radar and auxiliary devices for specific operation and all members of the K1 product range share a common set of base configuration parameters. For more advanced radars and specific modes of operation there will be additional parameters that can also be modified. To ensure that users are not overwhelmed with information, the software will only show configuration parameters which are known to the connected device.

The parameter section allows each individual parameter to be modified and an explanation of the functionality of this parameter is described in the text area below. The user can quickly and easily see the relevance of each of these for the particular application.

In addition advanced configuration features can be accessed during factory configuration or by maintenance staff, these features may alter the operational sensitivity of the device, these allow the device to be configured to particularly troublesome environments. The software is also able to display a "live view" of the radar signal which can help to track down site issues quickly and easily.

A comprehensive and yet easy to use software configuration tool that allows all production operators to set and reconfigure devices without extensive training or knowledge. We have endeavoured to produce a low overhead and easy to understand configuration product which is free to use with the Kestrel product series.

Additional Software

For devices that support data collection in traffic monitoring (logging) applications our Traffic Surveyor software expands on these basic capabilities to provide your end users with an easy to use and powerful tool to manage devices and data. When combined with remote access, this allows powerful data collection and comparison for VAS (Vehicle Activated Sign) applications.
